Kirkland Signature Napa Valley Meritage 2014

Recently I saw the Avengers Infinity War movie. It was so much fun, mostly because rather than focus on any character too much it balanced a great ensemble cast. And there was a great balance between so many emotions, with humor, rage, and sadness all mingling together. So I decided to ask the age-old question, what type of wine would bear the Avengers brand name? Experts agree it would be the Kirkland Signature Napa Valley Meritage.

Nerd Alert: Meritage is the name used for Bordeaux-style blends made in California to avoid infringing on the protected Bordeaux name. The name is a blend of the words Merit and Heritage.

Pouring into a decanter, you can immediately smell rich red fruit. In the glass you get an aroma of crushed red fruit, plumbs, vanilla, and jam. Tasting gives you rich fruit-forward wine, with a good amount of oak and tannin cutting through. The finish is long and rich. Overall for the price, this is a great buy if you like fruit-forward blends. And it definitely embodies the balance, teamwork, and energy of the Avengers.
