Eberle Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

So occasionally, nerds go out in the world and get some sunlight. I did this with my wife in 2014 for our honeymoon to Paso Robles. It was an awesome trip, they make some really great wines there. One of the places we visited was Eberle, which has a really cool tasting room and vineyard experience. Fast forward to a few weeks ago, we were going through our local wine store and saw a Cabernet from the vineyard we loved from the year we were there! Our wedding year! We had to get it.

Nerd Alert: The first Paso Robles winery was started in 1989 by the Perrin Family and Robert Hass, who brought Rhone grapes to the region. Since then, Paso has blown up in popularity, with around 300 wineries making great wines. The region and climate is similar to the Rhone region in France, and many of the Rhone varietals do very well there.

The wine is a deep red, with aromas of dark fruit, crushed plums, blackberries, and wood. The taste is fruit forward, plumbs, dark berries, and jam. You get a good amount of oak and acid which works well with the fruit to deliver a huge mouthful of flavor. The finish is rich and silky, I really loved this wine. It’s a steal for the price.
