Locations by David Phinney “E”

So Netflix made a smart move and released a re-cut Season 4 of Arrested Development. The show is genius, but they pretty much botched Season 4 originally (in my opinion). I’m halfway through the re-cut though, and they really redeemed themselves so far. It’s actually made me excited for the upcoming 5th season. Sticking with European reds this week, I wanted to try something non-traditional. The Location series by David Phinney is where I landed, with their Spanish red blend “E”. Phinney’s goal with the Location series is to bypass traditional blending allowed by regional control and instead present a blend of grapes representing the best a region has to offer.

Nerd Alert: Spain is the 3rd largest wine producing country in the world; the Spanish drink an average of 6 gallons of wine per year per person.

The wine is a dark crimson color, with an aroma of dark cherry, black currant, spices, and tobacco. The taste is rich and plush, with berries, plum, oak, and vanilla. It’s nice and juicy, with tartness in the middle and a long dry finish. “E” is a great wine for the price, and I’m excited to try the rest of the Locations series.
